Green Grass
What a lovely weather!
I just can’t get enough of it. So warm, so sunny. This is beautiful! Left my raincoat at home, pure luxury. Just one
extra bidon filled with cool water and cycle into oblivion.
I ride through this
Dutch landscape. Enjoying every sip of warm air. The green grass explodes out
of the ground making it happen. Mower guys. Long green grass for them is like a
scrape of red cloth is to a bull. These men on their big machines come out of
their sheds. They like only short green grass. It’s what the love doing,
cutting the grass. Flail
mowers ride with pride. During my two hours ride I met 6 of those happy guys.
But there is a down side to it. With the removal of the grass all kinds of
little stuff is spread around, dust, sand, twigs, lots of grit and all other
garbage that’s hiding in the long grass. All this is spewed around and when you
pass the machine…
I cough.
I’m allergic for
grass. Not the nose, throat or the longs kind, but on my skin. It itches and I
want to scratch. But only no touching will help. The wind will blow it off. I
hope.
No worry, I still
enjoy myself immensely. A little grass will not get me down today. I repress
the urge to start singing. Mentally I tell myself to focus. No joking around.
Okay, just a bit of mooing and bleating at the beasties then.
A tail wind blows
me on and on in a cocoon of warm air. I feel extremely lucky today. Tomorrow it
probably will rain again.
